The Big Garden

In 2005 United Methodist Ministries established The Big Garden, a series of community vegetable gardens in the metro Omaha area, concentrated mainly in economically challenged neighborhoods in east Omaha. Each garden is located on the grounds of a church or nonprofit organization that acts as a host and partner in the endeavor. Together we help provide a low cost source of healthy food for neighbors in the community. The Big Garden focuses on empowering neighbors to grow nutritious and low cost vegetables, improve their health, build community relationships and offer micro-enterprise opportunities.
