Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers in Mission
United Methodist Ministries--Missouri River District has recently been accredited
as an official Volunteers in Mission (VIM) site. What does this mean to your group
or your church? This means that you don’t necessarily have to travel a great distance
for your mission trip. You can have a VIM mission experience that supports Methodist
related missions in Nebraska. Mission experiences for Summer 2009 are available
for adult, youth and multi-generational groups. Length of mission experiences varies
from 24 hour to 5 days.

Stand Up Against Poverty
Stand Up Against Poverty is an international event dedicated to learning about the
issues surrounding poverty and taking action to stop the cycle. The Big Garden participates
in Stand Up Against Poverty by allowing youth to witness the food security issues
in some urban neighborhoods and engaging them in work to help empower residents
to have greater control over their food systems. Held annually in October, Stand
Up Against Poverty is open to Jr. High and High School ages.
